New Year Reception & Cocktail 2025

Internet Society Belgium has the pleasure of inviting all its members and supporters to a new year reception 2025, a great occasion for networking, with a retrospective of the Internet in 2024, and the critical challenges expected in 2025. Finally, we’ll be awarding the Internet 2024 prize, followed by a cocktail reception.

* Before 18:00′: Welcome
* 18:00′-18:15′:  Introduction, offered drinks and snacks served, with some words exchanged with remote participants
* 18:15′-19:15′:  Short interactive interviews of 6 speakers on hot Internet topics
* 19:15′-19:30′: Result of our survey about the Internet, and Internet Award 2024
* 19:30′-20:00′: Drink and networking – offered by Internet Society Belgium
* 20h onwards: after event dinner (optional)

    Gael Van Weyenbergh is a Digital Innovation Strategist with a strong focus on digital cooperation. His research explores data cooperatives, blending cooperative structures with the emerging digital asset class of data to foster innovative participatory governance systems. He regularly speaks at various forums and convenes at the Science Summit during the UN General Assembly. Gael is Event Coordinator at i50y.net.

    At ICANN, she leads ALAC Subcommittee on Outreach and Engagement, Secretary of EURALO, V-Chair of the ALAC Outreach and Engagement Sub-committee, Liaison Support and Trainer, member of the Continuous Improvement Program Community Coordination Group (CIP-CCG).

    She is also activist at the Internet Governance Forum, IGF activist (DTC Founding Member of the Dynamic Teen Coalition at the IGF).

    Romain Bosc is a Senior Officer in the RIPE NCC’s Public Policy & Internet Governance team. Based in Brussels, he engages with a broad range of stakeholders including the RIPE NCC membership, EU institutions, national authorities, civil society organisations and academia. Romain joined the RIPE NCC in September 2023. Before this, he held various positions in European public affairs and policy research. His background is in political science and international relations, and he speaks French and English.

    David Hereda Frautschy is a telecommunications engineer from the University of Alcalá (Madrid), plus hold a Master in Business Administration from the EOI Business School (Madrid).

    Joppe Bos is a worldwide recognized cryptographic researcher. He is notably Cryptographic Researcher and Technical Director at NXP Semiconductors, Editor of the Cryptology ePrint Archive, and Editor-in-Chief of the IACR Communications in Cryptology.

    Joppe Bos is also co-author of the post-quantum secure CRYSTALS-Kyber key encapsulation mechanism, which has been selected by USA Government (NIST) for standardization.
